It turns out that many people take months to prepare for a birthday party! On the other hand, it's gonna be a mere two weeks for me! I gotta kid myself! It's Wednesday and I start to panic as there are a lot of things that need to be done! I tried to use the service of a party planner. Hey, it doesn't come cheap, ok! What do you expect? I don't blame them (the party planners), it's business and there are many who are willing to pay huge amount of money to celebrate a birthday, hassle-free.
Well, if you can afford it, go ahead! Less headache for you! As for me, well....hubby is not into money printing business so, I have to be practical! Hehe.... as much as I want to engage a party planner, I feel that I can organize a birthday party. I've organized something bigger than this at school. Therefore, I am confident that I can pull this off! ( trying to be positive! ;-) )
Ok, the first thing I did was ask Nurin what theme she wants for her birthday. Knowing Nurin, she loves almost everything. From Mr Bean to Ben 10 to Tom and Jerry and Winx Club..what I did was, I showed pictures of cartoon characters and told her to choose. She chose Strawberry Shortcake! My favourite!!! Reminding me of my childhood! Strawberry Shortcake was a huge hit amongst my fellow ex-SIGSan. I just love Strawberry Shortcake.
Next, researching for Strawberry Shortcake (SSC) theme. I try to find as many info about the theme as possible. For example, what are the colours that match to the theme. I find that for SSC, the colours that I can use are red, pink, green and white. Then I Googled for more information on where I can get SSC stuff. Oh boy! SSC theme is proving to be difficult afterall. It isn't easy to find SSC costume in Malaysia. Finally, I ordered SSC hat online. A lot of SSC stuff can be bought online.
Then I start to list the menu for the party. Since it's going to be held at 3pm, it'll be a hitea. Ok, after that I need to decide on whether I'm going to cook or rely on catering service. Since I'll be baking cakes and cupcakes, I'm worried if there won't be much time to cook. Finally, i decided to buy Nasi Lemak and fry the nuggets and sausages myself. Of course, there'll be other food as well. Mmmm....I won't share too much as it won't be a surprise! :-)
